My Story

Hi, I’m Maddie.
I’m a flower farmer, educator, botanical creator, and the owner of Property of the Wild.
My story is a little different. I’ve always loved getting my hands dirty—finding the best way to grow something from the ground up. But my passion doesn’t stop at the soil. I also create wildly beautiful arrangements that offer a full farm-to-table experience. When you purchase flowers from us, you’re not just getting a bouquet—you’re holding a piece of the land, the season, and the moment it was grown in.
I come from a long line of creative left-brainers and was raised alongside my grandma, who could easily be described as an extreme home gardener. Her passion shaped my world. What started as a curiosity turned into a lifestyle.
For the longest time, I imagined this dream would wait until later in life—when my face was full of smile lines and my hair shimmered with silver in the sun. I thought that once I retired, I’d find a small plot of land far from the city, a place where people could gather, walk through the rows, and leave with arms full of flowers.
But life had other plans.
When I moved to Denver for work, I started buying myself a bouquet each week. One day, I came across a bundle of dahlias that stopped me in my tracks. I found out they were grown on a local farm just outside the city. I was young, probably too bold, and decided to drive out to that farm. I walked straight in—like I owned the place, honestly—and the farmers let me stay. I spent the afternoon running through their dahlia rows, and when I was ready to leave, they left a big bundle sitting on the hood of my car.
Before I left, I asked them, “How did you get into this?”
One of them simply said, “I went to school for agriculture… and just figured I could do it.”
That moment stayed with me. It shifted something inside me.
I thought, Why not?
Why couldn’t I just… figure I could do it, too?
So I did.
And that’s how Property of the Wild came to life.
P.O.T.W. is centered around farm to table arrangements—grown here, created here, and meant to reflect the raw beauty of the now. My style is instinctive, not structured. I don’t follow formulas or trends. Instead, I let each piece take shape naturally, guided by movement, texture, and color. Every bouquet is a reflection of a moment—wild, emotional, and uniquely its own.
